Chair Louis asks about construction and operational jobs
Chair Louis asks how many jobs the project will create. Palatnik estimates 100-150 construction workers and says operational hiring will include local lower-level positions, with senior management from other facilities.
All right.
How many jobs will the project create, both during construction and once operational, assuming it is a nursing home?
Assuming it's a nursing home, you can obviously imagine the construction.
I can't give you exact numbers.
Probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 to 150 people would be working on the building to construct the building, including laborers, engineers, builders, concrete, steel workers, glaziers, all those kinds of trades would be working.
And they will be using local labor to construct the building.
As far as operating the building goes, senior level management staff is going to be coming from other facilities because that's how most businesses operate.
And then they will be hiring new people for some of the lower level positions to give them the chance to come in and join the organization.
The way the organization works is they give people from within the opportunity.
to rise within the organization.
So if there are people that are working in other facilities that started at a lower job status, then now they'll be given an opportunity to move into a managerial position and the new people will be given the chance to come and take their place.
There'll also be transportation provided to people to and from the facility, both employees as well as
residents and their family members.
The idea will be that people will be living there, will be coming from the community, their family members will be from the community, so there will be a shuttle bus that will be operating in the area that people will be able to summons to get people to and from.
It won't be operating as routinely as a city bus, but it will be available.
