Palatnik defends parking plan and shuttle service
Palatnik says parking lots for senior care facilities are underutilized because residents and visitors often do not drive. He notes 38 parking spaces and 55 bicycle spaces, and describes a shuttle bus for employees, residents, and family.
Would you like...
It's a question, by the way.
Okay.
So I'd be happy to answer it.
I don't...
We never made the allegation or the assertion that the bicycles would create any sort of transportation.
But perhaps the assertion that has been made is that, unfortunately, parking lots for senior care facilities, adult care facilities, are not...
Well utilized.
A lot of people don't come to visit is the sad reality.
I know we all have visions in our heads of being perfect children that would adore our parents and visit them daily and come every day on the way home from work with chicken soup.
That's not the case.
People do not come to visit.
And the residents within the home have
at the point where they've given up their cars.
So most of the parking for these facilities is occupied by staff members and people coming to make service visits to the facility, not by the residents or the visitors.
That's why the shuttle bus is created so that people who do live in the area
who want to come, who might not have a car themselves because the people that do come tend to be older, in their 70s and 80s, those are the people that come to visit, their friends who are 70s and 80s and in the homes, and they're not always driving as much.
But your point is well heeded.
I think the 28 spaces are self-park right now, if I'm not mistaken.
We're actually 38.
38.
38.
And we provide 55 bicycle spaces as well.
And what?
And 55 bicycle spots.
Yeah.
Yeah, but the bike parking is irrelevant for this conversation.
Nobody's biking.
No nursing home residents are biking out of the nursing.
