Sanchez discusses American dream vs. Puerto Rican dream and Act 22
Sanchez argues that the American dream must evolve into a Puerto Rican dream. He criticizes Act 22 for promoting relocation of individual investors while denying Puerto Ricans the opportunity to build their island.
And that American dream didn't just stop when he got here.
Or when he passed, or when members of his family were able to take on big dreams.
But that American dream takes a new form in us that are the next generation.
Because we also need to build the Puerto Rican dream.
And that is a dream in which
unlike Act 22, to promote the relocation of individual investors,
while also using the American government to continue to not pay taxes and deny Puerto Ricans the opportunity to continue building and creating the island and the families and the culture that we love.
But that is why I'm so proud to be here alongside my colleagues, Councilmember Aviles, and all of the people here, and everyone in this room, because together we show that it doesn't matter if you're on the island, off the island, where you come from,
But it matters that when people are coming to destroy what our families and our generations and our culture have built, we won't stand idly by because we're not only building our American dream, we're building our Puerto Rican dreams too.
