Chair Joseph asks about public-private funding; Jessica Rothman describes departmental grants
Chair Joseph thanks Dinowitz and asks how CUNY can fund study abroad through private-public partnerships. Rothman says departments and faculty have pursued outside funders and small private grants, but these efforts vary by campus and depend on individual faculty and chairs.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Councilmember Dinowitz.
Earlier, just to piggyback off of Councilmember Brewer, we know that cost is a big obstacle for students.
Are we thinking, how do CUNY help students come abroad, and how do we find money elsewhere, probably private-public partnerships to make this happen?
So any thoughts on that?
I mean, I can speak to the, from the perspective of being a faculty member and just from my own department, is that we have engaged outside funders and private small grants for students.
But these are on a campus and sometimes departmental basis.
And it also depends on the efforts of individual faculty, individual department chairs, individual, you know, campuses.
So, but we have, you know, taken advantage of.
Of those funding opportunities when they come across.
