Gutiérrez asks whether NYCPS is considering other dual-language models
Gutiérrez asks if the city is looking at dual-language models other than the 50-50 model. Branch says the current early childhood model is dual language but the division is open to expanding language access models.
Thank you, Council Member.
Agreed.
I wanted to ask about, just about very quickly about the dual language model.
I know that you shared it's 50-50.
Are there other models of dual language implementation that you all are looking at?
Or is this, I know...
Does this seem tried and true?
Thank you for that question.
Within the early childhood program portfolios, our current model is dual language, but we're always
thinking about ways that we can expand language access to families who, under the umbrella term of bilingual education, thinking how that would look like for our littlest learners.
Thank you.
I'm glad you're open.
I know we've got some folks here in the room that might have thoughts, so I hope you can stick around for the testimony.
