Honda discusses implementation of cultural passport and digital map laws
Thomas-Henry asks which agencies were designated to implement Local Laws 107 and 110 on cultural passports, maps, and public bathrooms. Honda says she cannot speak to specific agencies but highlights the cultural passport and digital map collaboration.
Local laws 106, 107, and 110 of 2026 became law without the mayor's signature on June 13th, two days after the tournament began.
Which agencies were designated to implement local laws 107 and 110?
Were these the cultural passport and the map related?
They were around the cultural passport, the map, and public bathroom expansion.
Okay.
I can't speak to the specifics of the agencies.
I'm not sure if anyone else here can, but we can get back to you on that.
I will note that we were thrilled to be able to put forward a cultural passport in the opening days of the World Cup.
And that was an amazing collaboration that enabled folks, residents and visitors, to go to the public library and get a cultural passport and then use it to collect stamps made by New York City-based artists throughout the city.
I know that public restroom expansion is in the works in partnership in some cases with city council and EDC is also doing some work there
and then we were very very excited to work with NYC tourism and the FIFA host committee on the digital map
and calendar and we also were able to do coordinated marketing efforts and I really want to speak to that coordination where
there was a scenario a terrible scenario in which everyone and their mother had a new map right and a different calendar and then no one knew where to go and half of them had these
events and half of them had those.
And we were very, very excited to be able to say, this is the definitive source.
We were able to do tons of outreach.
We were able to direct everyone to tourism's website, work with the host committee to make sure that everything was coordinated and on that map.
And it was able to show, for example, cultural enclaves.
It was able to show cultural institutions more than just events and watch parties, but also what makes the city great.
