SBS describes multilingual outreach for Queens small businesses
Brooks-Powers asks what SBS will do differently so Queens small businesses outside the stadium area have materials in their languages from day one. Gross says SBS used email, webinars, door-to-door canvassing, and reached over 280,000 New Yorkers.
And then lastly for SBS, what will SBS do differently so that Queens small businesses, especially those outside the immediate stadium area, have materials and outreach in their languages from day one?
Thank you, Council Member.
We were really excited to engage the minute NYC Tourism and SBS landed on the business toolkit, which included all the different promotional materials.
We went on a multimodal outreach campaign.
We did email marketing, webinars, door-to-door canvassing across our five boroughs, and we collectively reached over 280,000 New Yorkers to ensure that they were educated and the opportunities that were available.
In those two months, even when we were doing corridor walks with council members, many of you have to remember
that one pager that we were bringing to our walks with elected officials, but that was just one vehicle of six, seven different mechanisms by which we were making sure New Yorkers were hearing and learning about the opportunities by which they could help promote their businesses.
And it was exciting.
We did not make assumptions on the types of businesses that would want to be featured on tourism's calendar, and we had a...
Relatively new bubble tea shop in Astoria, Queens that decided a day before the start of the World Cup games that they would actually go really hard on the World Cup and do a bunch of watch parties.
And by knowing about the calendar, they were able to quickly sign up.
Thank you for that.
