Gennaro and DeFalco discuss weekend rainfall and inland flooding

New York City Council · Sep 30, 2026 · starts 1:21:57 · 58 sec

Gennaro asks about rainfall totals and notes his central Queens district missed the worst. DeFalco says rainfall was relatively light and inland flooding reports were minimal.

James F. Gennaro

Do you focus on how much rain we got during this thing?

Beth DeFalco

I would have to double check on the exact precipitation.

Beth DeFalco

It was pretty slow, relatively light.

Beth DeFalco

We didn't see a lot of reports of inland flooding.

Beth DeFalco

It was really just the coastal areas that we expected.

James F. Gennaro

Yeah, because my part of Queens, I'm like Central Queens.

James F. Gennaro

I'm like Central Eastern Queens.

James F. Gennaro

And, you know, it's like we missed out on the nor'easter.

James F. Gennaro

We had some breezes, didn't really get super heavy rain.

James F. Gennaro

I live in Jamaica Estates, which has like huge trees, and I just thought we were going to be a goner.

James F. Gennaro

And I think one tree fell down in the entirety of the estates.

James F. Gennaro

Yeah, and so I, but I, you know, all the reports about the coast getting beat up, that was hard to process.
