Gennaro responds to Waterfront Alliance testimony
Gennaro thanks Duquela, says the bill's direction will be worked out with stakeholders, and recalls receiving a 'Hero of the Harbor' award from Waterfront Alliance. He shares a boating anecdote.
Thank you very much.
We appreciate that.
And, yeah, we're aware of Councilmember or Deputy Speaker Williams'bill.
I think Council just made a note about that, right?
And, you know, it's not my– I've got a soft spot for the Waterfront Alliance.
Ordinarily–
you know, witnesses don't get to ask, like we ask the questions.
And then, but, you know, regarding clarification on the, you know, ultimate direction of this bill,
You know, that is going to be worked out among all the stakeholders, including you.
First environmental organization to ever give me an award, you know, so it was a life preserver.
We always appreciate your leadership and happy to work with you.
It said hero of the harbor, you know.
And because I had a boat at the time,
I put it on my boat, you know.
It was one of those round ones that you see, like, on cruise ships and stuff like that with the little rope hanging off it or whatever.
And when we would take the boat out to the bay, I would...
So as order not to lose the kids in the bay, you know, I would take several flotation things like a...
You know, like a boogie board and the life preserver you got and some other, like a tube or whatever.
And I would, I had a couple of, I'd have, I'd put them on 75 feet.
I would tie them to the boat so the kids couldn't drift away.
I was in the water too, so, you know, but that was a way to sort of, as long as they were holding that, they were like tied to the boat.
I invented that, by the way.
So if you see other boaters doing it, you know, you know that like I started that.
And people would come by and they'd say, like, oh, did you think of that?
You know, because their kids are, like, floating all over the water.
place and stuff like that, you know, and I'm like, you know, sometimes the kid will come floating along, like, you want your kid back, you know, and then,
and, yeah, and so that was something I invented, because, you know, my daughter would take her friends out and stuff like that, and, yeah, it was a lot of fun.
Yeah, I think the council is going to really hit me in a second.
So thank you very much for your good public testimony.
We look forward to partnering with you as this bill goes down the tracks.
And a nice plug for the bill by Deputy Speaker Williams.
