De La Rosa asks about NYPD, 311, and 911 relationship
Chair asks about the dynamic between 311 and NYPD when complaints are not fulfilled. Morrisroe says 311 focuses on accurate intake and routing, calibrates regularly with NYPD, and has a dedicated NYPD liaison, but defers to NYPD on outcomes.
I want to ask a few questions about NYPD and sort of the relationship between NYPD 311911.
So you testified earlier that, I mean, I'm saying it seems like there's some challenges in terms of oversight at NYPD because that's a different operation, right?
There were some questions that the colleagues asked that you said that's better suited for NYPD to answer.
Can you explain sort of the dynamic between your 311 operation and NYPD when there are complaints that are directed towards NYP that are not fulfilled?
Yes, I follow what you're saying there.
What I can speak to is the three-on-one side in terms of the intake that we do.
Our goal then is to make sure we're getting the information accurate.
The forms are working.
We calibrate with NYPD on a regular basis to make sure they're getting routed correctly.
So that's where we put our energy and our focus.
We have feedback mechanisms.
We have a dedicated liaison at NYPD who works with our agency relations, our senior director there.
So there's always that combination.
And I think I would characterize both.
groups as being very public centric and using data to kind of exchange.
So I think we have a pretty good feel in that respect.
But everything we do is focused on the intake and getting them what they need.
And then our role kind of ends at that point.
And we defer to the agency.
Okay.
