Q&A

Dinowitz asks about ESRI geolocator and GPS pin-drop progress

New York City Council · Sep 30, 2026 · starts 0:28:49 · 36 sec

Dinowitz recalls Morrisroe's April 2024 testimony about an ESRI geolocator and asks whether it is now in use. Morrisroe confirms the current state and says work continues with ESRI to collect pin-drop coordinates and pass them to agencies.

Eric Dinowitz

Thank you.

Eric Dinowitz

Thank you for coming for your testimony, Deputy Commissioner.

Eric Dinowitz

I want to ask first about the GPS location.

Eric Dinowitz

On April 25th, 2024, if you can remember back that far, you had testified that NYC 311 is exploring a new geolocator, ESRI.

Eric Dinowitz

Which is you referenced in your testimony today, the service that will take a step further and collect latitude and longitude based on a pin drop, then identify the address in the format required by the agency based on the service report.

Eric Dinowitz

So I just want to make sure that's the format that's being used now.
