In closing, we are committed to helping New Yorkers plan fun and creative special events in parks because we know a park with robust activity is safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
But we must still uphold our primary responsibility as the caretaker and steward of city parkland.
Our shared spaces need to be protected and used appropriately, and access must be fair.
We seek to accommodate the desired outcomes of the permit applicants while protecting the needs of everyday park users to access and enjoy the open spaces they love.
