Cerrone explains when Parks may deny a permit
Cerrone says Parks tries to accommodate applicants but cannot approve events that harm parkland or significantly interfere with other users. Denials are relatively rare and based on location, size, configuration, or natural features.
We always try to work with applicants toward an outcome that works for everyone, but our agency is ultimately responsible for the care and protection of our city parkland for all New Yorkers.
So we're not able to accommodate every aspect of each request.
For each park.
If the requested location is inappropriate for the proposed event activity because of the park size, configuration, or natural features,
or if the proposed activity is likely to harm the park or significantly interfere with the enjoyment of the park by other users, then the agency may have grounds to deny the permit application.
But this is relatively rare.
