Chair Abreu asks about enforcement targeting non-UL certified devices
Abreu asks what percentage of NYPD enforcement actions target non-UL certified devices, and NYPD says that enforcement is handled by DCWP and FDNY, not NYPD.
What percentage of NY...
IPD's on-street micromobility-related enforcement actions target non-UL certified devices compared to devices that exceed legal speed and wattage limits.
So the non-UL, the UL issue, right, that enforcement is really not us.
So that's in the admin code 20-610, right?
And that...
Is really about points of sale, and that's going to be on the UL piece, that's going to be DCWP or the fire department.
So NYPD does not do enforcement actions that target non-UL certified devices, is that correct?
I want to be clear, though, because the relevant admin code provision that I believe you're talking about, right, is not about possession.
It's about selling it, renting it, the things you do at the point of sale.
And actually, by statute, actually, PE does not have authority to do that.
It is actually assigned to other agencies.
