Chair Abreu asks about reducing conflicts with large vehicles
Abreu asks what DOT can do to reduce conflicts between micromobility users and large vehicles, especially in Midtown, and Flynn discusses bus lanes and systemic reviews.
Thank you.
Yeah, right.
I think maybe what you're alluding to is that two of the recent fatalities were both on streets with bus lanes.
Well, 14th Street's a busway, 34th Street has the bus lane.
And I think, you know, I mentioned that we always, we look
in reaction every time there's a serious or fatal crash, but likewise, we're always looking systemically as well, right?
Are there trends coming up?
Maddie mentioned the Vision Zero Task Force.
All the members of that, we examine the data, we see kind of what's bubbling to the surface.
So if there's something like a particular issue like that, if it's a bus lane or if it's interactions between
trash or other large trucks and cyclists, then that's something we'll home in on and we'll really do a deep dive on it.
We'll do a deep dive on October 27.
