Council Member Brewer introduces Intro 994 on liability insurance
Brewer introduces Intro 994, requiring third-party food delivery companies to maintain liability insurance for workers making deliveries or available to make deliveries.
Liability insurance for delivery apps, Intro 994, slightly controversial, but with all these 400 deliveries taking place, app-based delivery is no longer a small part of our transportation system.
The companies that profit using our streets need to carry insurance when that work results in an injury or damage to property.
This requires third
party food delivery companies to maintain liability insurance when a worker is making a delivery or logs onto the app and is available to make one.
A company could not obtain a city license without coverage and a lapse in coverage would void its license.
And I do worry about the workers.
I want to make sure they're not hurt by this, but we need to work on it to make sure that there is insurance.
