Delany-Brumsey discusses advisory engagement and supports Intro 1079
Delany-Brumsey says the Deputy Mayor will participate in NGBV advisory councils quarterly and that OCS supports Intro 1079 on hotline reporting with adjustments because the NYC Hope Hotline also supports survivors of other crimes.
Another important part of this work is maintaining direct communication with survivors, advocates, service providers, OCS, NGBV, and City Hall.
Deputy Mayor Francois will participate in NGBV advisory councils quarterly, meeting alongside OCS and NGBV leadership, providing a regular opportunity to hear directly from stakeholders, assess progress, and discuss needs and priorities.
Staff, providers, advocates, and other stakeholders will continue to be engaged throughout the transition and implementation process.
We appreciate the opportunity to provide positions on the legislation under consideration today.
We support Bill 1079 to 2026 reporting on hotline survivors for gender-based violence, with some adjustments to reflect that the New York City Hope Hotline supports survivors of gender-based violence and other crimes.
We would be happy to discuss those adjustments with the council following the hearing.
We look forward to continued collaboration with the council, our sister agencies, survivors, advocates, service providers, and community-based partners as we move this work forward.
Together, we will continue to strengthen services, address gaps, improve coordination across systems, and ensure that victims and survivors have access to the support they need.
