Farías asks about future of Family Justice Centers and Safe Horizon
Farías asks about the future of Family Justice Centers currently operated by Safe Horizon. Sethi clarifies NGBV operates the FJCs and Safe Horizon is one of 10 contracted providers, says services remain unchanged, and notes 63,000 visits annually.
I'm just going to jump in on a few more questions before we get to public testimony.
In terms of contracting, what is the future of the family justice centers currently operated by Safe Horizons?
So the FJCs, which are operated by NGBV, actually SafeRise is a contracted provider at Manhattan for a few services.
We have 10 different contracted providers.
So far, you know, we're still no change in that service.
I think our only hope is to continue expanding because, again, what we continue to see is we are seeing, you know, tens of thousands of visits a year, you know, 63,000 visits annually.
And what we are seeing is that the people that we're serving have higher levels of need.
And so I think when I think about my role and NGBV's role, it's like how do we make sure that our providers doing this work are better resourced to do this work, which is getting more and more challenging due to the circumstances that we find ourselves in, federally especially.
