Q&A

Farías asks how many contracts NGBV manages

New York City Council · Sep 30, 2026 · starts 0:34:27 · 1 min 34 sec

Farías notes NGBV manages $13 million in Council discretionary funding and asks how many contracts it holds. Sethi says NGBV manages 90 contracts, and Delany-Brumsey says HRA will continue supporting contracting while OCS builds internal capacity.

Amanda C. Farías

Okay, thanks, folks.

Amanda C. Farías

I'd like to talk a little bit about contracting.

Amanda C. Farías

The council has frequently heard that mayoral agencies can struggle to manage procurement processes because they lack the staffing infrastructure to manage contracts.

Amanda C. Farías

NGBV currently manages $13 million of council discretionary funding and has support from HRA staff to do so.

Amanda C. Farías

How many contracts is NGBV currently managing?

Amanda C. Farías

In the portfolio.

Ayesha Delany-Brumsey

Do you want to say the total number of contracts?

Saloni Sethi

Sure.

Saloni Sethi

We have a total of 90 contracts currently.

Amanda C. Farías

Nine zero?

Saloni Sethi

Nine zero.

Amanda C. Farías

It was like 90.

Amanda C. Farías

90.

Saloni Sethi

It's a big portfolio.

Ayesha Delany-Brumsey

And I would just add to that, just for context, that HRA will continue to support NGBV's contracting as OCS builds out our own internal contracting function.

Ayesha Delany-Brumsey

We're building out a contracting function not just to support NGBV, but to support the entire office, which has even more than the 90 contracts.

Ayesha Delany-Brumsey

And we're doing that work in partnership with HRA, as well as the other agencies that currently support our contracting work, in combination with other mayoral offices and city agencies that support contracting so that we can ensure we're building out a contracting shop that has the staffing

and the capacity and the structure in place to do this work well.

Ayesha Delany-Brumsey

We know that contracting...

Ayesha Delany-Brumsey

well is both about meeting city obligations, but it's also about ensuring that the providers that we work with, our contractors, are able to do the good work that we are paying them for.
