Roll call begins with Chair Lewis and Council Member Farías
Staff calls Chair Lewis, who votes aye; Council Member Farías requests permission to explain her vote, states concerns about Sojourner Truth–Mapes union and community board negotiations, and votes aye on all.
Chair Lewis?
I don't know.
Councilmember Furious?
Permission to explain my vote?
Permission.
Thank you, Chair.
I just wanted to state in terms of the Sojourner Truth MAPES rezoning
LU 135 and 136 application today, just in recognition of member deference and the prerogative of the council member whose district the project is located in.
I want to recognize that the community board and local union have deep concerns about the negotiation and deal made.
Those perspectives deserve to be heard and respected.
And I hope conversations continue as the council moves towards a larger vote in the land use committee and to the stated meeting.
My role in this committee is to consider the full land use record before us, including the proposed use, the broader needs of the community and the position of the member representing the district.
So in this case, I'll be voting aye and supporting the request coming from Councilmember Felice.
And a larger vote aye on all.
Thank you, Councilmember.
