Q&A

Shulman asks about EV charging and flood mitigation

New York City Council · Oct 6, 2026 · starts 0:44:50 · 58 sec

Shulman asks whether the applicant will include vehicle charging and how the building will address flooding; Lobel says they are considering EV charging, and Murray explains a blue roof will retain stormwater and release it slowly.

Lynn C. Schulman

The community board made a recommendation to include vehicle charging facilities for the parking garage.

Lynn C. Schulman

Is that something you're considering?

Member of the Public - Richard Lobel

It is.

Member of the Public - Richard Lobel

I've talked to Mr.

Member of the Public - Richard Lobel

Murray about that.

Member of the Public - Richard Lobel

It's something that this architectural team has put in other buildings similarly situated.

Member of the Public - Richard Lobel

We'd be happy to do that.

Lynn C. Schulman

Also, with every development that is coming into the district with all the...

Lynn C. Schulman

Storms that we've had.

Lynn C. Schulman

Forest Hills was never really a, is not a flood zone, but that said, there is a lot of flooding that occurs, especially with these weird storms that we're having and everything else.

Lynn C. Schulman

So has any thought been given to how, when you're building it, to ameliorate that?

Member of the Public - Richard Lobel

Yeah, I would probably defer to Mr.

Member of the Public - Richard Lobel

Murray as well as Mr.

Member of the Public - Richard Lobel

Corte.

Member of the Public - Devin Murray

Yes, so we would utilize a blue roof.

Member of the Public - Devin Murray

So as the storm comes in, we would retain the water on the roof of the building and slowly disperse that back into the sewer drains.

Lynn C. Schulman

Great.
