Brewer asks about 2K to 3K continuity and public school spaces
Brewer asks if children can continue to 3K in the same program and whether future expansion will include public school spaces. Liss says continuity priority exists if program offers 3K, and 2K will remain in community-based settings.
Okay, and then one more question would be, the chair asked about it also, but when you're in 2K, can you get into the same program with 3K?
How does that work?
And then, you know, will the next round out have public school spaces or will it still continue to be the nonprofit?
So children who are attending 2K, if that program also offers 3K, then yes, they would
receive a continuing student priority to stay at that program for next year?
We don't know how many have that or as opposed to have to reapply somewhere else.
We don't know yet.
We don't, you know, we have not yet confirmed all of the different programming and seats that everyone will be offering for next year, but certainly that's something we will look at.
Continuity of care is an important value we know for families, for providers, and we will be looking at that as we work with programs to confirm capacity for next year.
Our intention for the long foreseeable future is that 2K will be offered only in community-based settings and family child care homes.
We are not looking to place 2K in public schools.
