Joseph asks about parent awareness and HILS forms
Joseph asks if parents know about available supports and if HILS forms are available to providers. Phillips says family surveys collect home language and other information during enrollment.
And parents know that this is available to them because the EI system is not seamless.
There's usually, when we pass them off from EI, there's a dark hole.
Sometimes our children with special needs get lost in that.
We saw that when I first came into office.
We had almost 12,000 students at home that did not have a seat.
So we need to clear that backlog and that wait list for students to.
Is there a system in place for school-based when you do HILS, you know, the HILS form, when you go into regular public school?
Is that available to providers as well also to capture that language that Chair was talking about?
So we do do family surveys where we are asking for their home language and other information that the program would need in order to best meet the needs of their children.
And that is information that we'll be collecting as we go through our enrollment process.
And you'll be able to have captured that data and share with the committee.
Chair, I have.
Go for it.
Thank you.
