Phillips shares personal background in early childhood education
Phillips describes her personal connection as the daughter and granddaughter of early educators, and her 20+ years of experience, including at the National Association for Family Child Care and All Our Kin.
Early childhood education is deeply personal to me.
I'm the daughter and granddaughter of early educators and caregivers, and I've spent more than 20 years working to expand opportunities for young children, support families, and strengthen early childhood systems.
Before joining New York City Public Schools, I served as the executive director of the National Association for Family Child Care, and before that, I spent eight years at All Our Kin working closely with family child care educators here in New York City.
I bring those experiences with me to New York City public schools, along with a belief that has guided my work throughout my career.
Expanding access and ensuring quality must go hand in hand.
Families need affordable care they can count on.
Children deserve environments tailored to the ways that they learn and develop.
And our educators and providers need strong support systems behind them.
My focus is on building on the work already underway, enhancing the systems and partnerships that will continue to support the growth of 2K, while improving our early childhood system more broadly.
