DCWP Chief of Staff Carlos Ortiz introduces agency role in pedicab licensing
Carlos Ortiz introduces himself as DCWP Chief of Staff, joined by Haley Radiker and Ira Goldapper of TLC. He says DCWP is the licensing agency for pedicab businesses and drivers and registers pedicab vehicles.
Thank you, Chair.
Good morning, Chair Epstein and members of the Committee on Consumer and Worker Protection.
My name is Carlos Ortiz, and I am the Chief of Staff of the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection.
I am joined by our Associate Commissioner of Intergovernmental Affairs, Haley Radiker, as well as my colleague, Ira Goldapper, Deputy Commissioner for Uniformed Services Bureau at the Taxing and Museum Commission.
The New York City Department of Consumer Worker Protection is the nation's leading municipal enforcement agency charged with delivering economic justice.
In New York City, we are also the licensing agency for both pedicab businesses and drivers.
And we register pedicab vehicles as well.
There are currently 130 active pedicab business licensees associated with 330 registered pedicab vehicles and approximately 600 active pedicab driver licenses.
