Council Member Schulman Honors Rabbi Mendelson
Schulman provides a biography of Rabbi Mendelson, noting his 16 years of service, educational work, and chaplaincy, and moves to spread the invocation in full upon the record.
I would now ask Council Member Lynn Shulman to spread the invocation on the record.
Thank you.
Rabbi Yosef Mendelsohn has served for 16 years as the spiritual leader of Congregation Mahani Hodish in Forest Hills, Queens, a synagogue widely known for its warm, inclusive, and uplifting atmosphere.
Over his many years of leadership, he has built deep roots in a broad network of connections across the rich and diverse communities of Queens.
A dedicated educator with over two decades of teaching experience, he also serves as the local representative for the Roy Jewish Learning Institute, making high-level Jewish learning accessible to adults of all backgrounds.
A graduate of the Rabbinical College of Canada, Rabbi Mendelsohn provides spiritual care to individuals of all faiths as a chaplain at New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where he serves on both the clinical, pastoral, training faculty, and the ethics committee.
He previously chaired the Bible Studies Department at the Jewish Institute of Queens and is an active member of the Rabbinical Council of Queens.
He and his wife, Mushki, who is here today, are the proud parents of seven children and have one son-in-law.
I now make a motion to spread the invocation in full upon the record.
Thank you.
