Sanchez asks about city-owned building waste collection methods
Sanchez asks about the most common waste collection method for public buildings and what share receive off-street collection. Anderson says most city buildings use standard curbside collection, schools use dual-bin trucks, and off-street collection is a relatively low share.
And then we'll talk about intros 30 and 987 quickly before I end with my last question.
What is the most common method of waste collection for public buildings?
Approximately what percentage of city-owned buildings receive off-street collection and what percentage of school buildings receive off-street collection?
The most common means of collection is standard curbside collection with a rear-loading collection truck.
Almost every school in New York City, for example, receives a school truck collection.
Those collections are done using dual-bin trucks.
So we pick up a combination of paper recycling, metal, glass, plastic recycling, and organics on various different days.
And then the trash is collected on the neighborhood collection frequency, the same as the surrounding residences.
As far as the percentage of city buildings that have off-street collection, I don't have that number specifically in front of me, but it's a relatively low share as a percentage of the whole.
