De La Rosa questions deepfakes, Jess Asado case, and litigation reserves
De La Rosa condemns the sexualized image of Speaker Menin, asks about UK Parliament member Jess Asado's lawsuit against SpaceX, and cites reports that SpaceX set aside $530 million for potential litigation over Grok sexualized imagery; Castillo-Madrid says she cannot discuss pending cases or predict litigation.
Going back to the speaker's line of questionings around deep fakes and sexual images, and I'm sorry, Madam Speaker, that your image was used in that way, you know, is disgraceful.
And we heard last week the very moving testimony of Jess Asado, who is a member of the parliament in the UK, who is, my understanding, is suing your company.
Do you have any comments on Member Asado's case?
Yes, to be clear, I'm a woman.
No one should have sexualized images made of them without their consent.
And our policies prohibit that.
Obviously, her case is pending, so I can't discuss the specifics there.
But I do want to say we're all on the same side.
Bad actors should not be allowed to do and go around the safeguards that we have.
And that's why we continuously improve those safeguards and make sure that Grok.
is not used to exploit minors, commit crimes, or generate illegal content.
It was reported as of December that SpaceX has set aside $530 million
for potential litigation laws, some of which could stem from ongoing complaints filed against its AI unit over sexualized imagery generated by Grok chatbots.
There are several lawsuits filed against you.
Do you anticipate more cases filed, although there are restrictions in place?
I couldn't predict the litigation.
What I will say is that we are strengthening the systems to ensure that nobody is going around our safeguards and using grok for illegal activity.
But you anticipated $530 million in losses.
I'm not aware of the specifics on that, but I will say is I can't predict what will or not happen in that litigation front.
