Menin calls SpaceX AI testimony unsatisfactory and not credible
Speaker Menin says SpaceX AI's answers were wholly unsatisfactory, citing Devin Kim's whistleblower testimony about his firing, the company's tasteful nudes standard, and the hyper-sexualized images of herself and thousands of women and children that Grok can generate within seconds; she thanks Kim for his bravery.
Okay, thank you so much, Chair De La Rosa.
I really want to say that the answers that we heard from SpaceX AI today were wholly and completely unsatisfactory.
The idea that the basically company line about constant focus on safety was really belied by several things.
First of all, the fact that the very compelling whistleblower testimony we heard from Devin Kim, whose testimony we were able to secure early this morning, and we appreciate him being here and his forthrightness.
But the idea that SpaceX AI could not comment or couldn't about anything around his termination was extremely troubling at best.
Secondly,
As we discussed, we know that for
for thousands and thousands of women and children who have had hyper-sexualized images of them posted online repeatedly.
And then hearing from Mr.
Kim, who was one of SpaceX's first employees, that the company thought that
tasteful nudes were appropriate is really shocking, offensive, and wholly and completely unacceptable.
And the fact that within seconds I could pull up a hyper-sexualized image of myself, numerous images, and in fact not only could we find them,
Rock even had a way where you could make them more sexualized.
You can make it, sort of pump it up even more and more and more.
This is not at all in line with the testimony we heard from SpaceX AI that they're focused on safety.
So I was very deeply disappointed and found their testimony.
Not credible, and unacceptable.
We were very pleased to be joined by Mr.
Kim, and we thank him for his bravery and courage in coming forward, and everyone else who testified today.
