Chair Williams asks how IBO's report differs from Local Law 15 reporting
Chair asks how IBO's analysis differs from Local Law 15; Armbruster says Local Law 15 covers CDF, CIG, and other DCLA funding, while IBO's report is a statistical analysis of CDF grantees and trends.
I have a few.
I have 50 million papers.
Okay, can you explain how your report differs from the reporting required by Local 15 of 2024, which the council passed to require reporting by DCLA, including on the CDF?
Sure.
So my recollection is the Local Law of 15 was reporting on not just the CDF, but also the CIG and other aspects of DCLA's funding and grant making.
So I will say one major difference is our report is looking specifically at the CDF.
The Local Law 15 reports that I have seen online are sort of PDFs.
There's some text at the top and then tables of sort of each individual organization.
That's quite different from the way we approached this analysis, which is really like a statistical analysis looking at trends within the grantees themselves.
One thing that I like to say when I talk about my work is it can be really difficult to like come to some kind of conclusion when you're just looking at mountains and mountains of data.
And so it can be hard to know looking at a table of sort of the grantee name, where they're based and how much money they got, any of these kinds of trends, geographic.
funding levels, et cetera.
So what we've done in this report is really try to break out those trends, not only by funding amounts and geographies, but other characteristics, like some of the demographic characteristics that are specified in Local Law 15
around organizations that serve specifically people of color, people with disabilities, and immigrants.
