Ariola outlines expectations for FDNY testimony and thanks committee staff
Ariola says she expects FDNY testimony to explain rising response times and cover dispatching, staffing, and ambulance maintenance. She also calls for broader discussion of pre-hospital emergency resources, interagency coordination, and reversing the trend before thanking staff and yielding to Narcisse.
As chair of fire and emergency management committee, I expect to hear testimony from the fire department.
that will provide clarity to why we have seen dramatic increases in response times to medical emergencies and learn more about the department's procedures related to dispatching, staffing, and the maintenance of ambulances.
But also, I hope the department and administration is able to speak more broadly of the commitment of dedicating increased resources to the provision of pre-hospital emergency and truly examine agency operations
and interagency coordination.
To identify how the city can reverse this troubling trend of increasing emergency response times.
Because we cannot continue down this path, I'd like to thank our committee staff, our committee counsel, Josh Kingsley, our legal analyst, Will Hongash, and my amazing chief of staff, Phyllis Incerillo.
I will now yield to Chair Narcisse for her opening remarks.
