Narcisse praises Bridge to Home and mental health diversion
Narcisse calls Bridge to Home a great program for patients with mental illness and says she wants to keep people out of emergency rooms and off the streets. She says supportive housing and programs like SHOW should be expanded.
By the way, I want to talk about follow-up with my colleagues earlier about Bridge to Home.
It's a great program.
And Dr.
Katz's baby and my baby, too, because the minute he called me, I was so excited.
Because when you discharge a patient with a mental illness and sending them back to the street, and that's what we, a lot of people on our streets, and I'm seeing people with gowns.
I'm seeing people talking to themselves and just coming out of the hospital.
So Bridge to Home is a baby to Dr.
Katz, and I love that baby as well.
Supportive housing and show other places that my colleagues was trying to tell you.
Those are the places that we should push more so we have less folks with mental health in our train station, in different places.
We want them to be not in the emergency room.
We have freaking flyers when I used to be in the ER.
We know certain people just come because of whatever mentally going on, or maybe they need to be warm, or sometimes they need a little cool of AC.
So whatever that we can do to triage those folks, not even the triage nurse, because they are freaking fires, and they don't have anything.
By the time we come and assess them, we can see that.
We can ask them the question, what's the problem?
And sometimes they be kind of like very honest to the nurses.
We can come back and ask them, and they don't have to.
So.
I think I want to sign up.
Chair, I think I want to hear from the EMS workers themselves.
And I have two things that we're supposed to do for them.
And we talked about it.
But any more questions, you can continue with your questions.
I'm going to take a break.
