Chair Gennaro checks whether administration will attend hearing

New York City Council · Oct 20, 2026 · starts 0:00:06 · 53 sec

Before formally opening the hearing, Chair Gennaro asks whether anyone from the administration is present. He says city legislative affairs promised someone would attend in person to listen even though the administration is not testifying.

James F. Gennaro

Who's here from the administration?

James F. Gennaro

I know people are going to come to listen.

James F. Gennaro

Anybody here from the administration?

James F. Gennaro

I worked this out with the city legislative affairs.

James F. Gennaro

That someone would be here in person to listen?

James F. Gennaro

Pardon?

James F. Gennaro

Okay, yeah, yeah, I'm just asking a question.

James F. Gennaro

Okay, so you're from the administration.

James F. Gennaro

Okay, yeah, we just, pardon?

James F. Gennaro

Yeah, because the administration is not testifying, but they promised they would send, like, you know, someone from the administration to listen to all the testimony.

James F. Gennaro

Of course, people say they're going to be watching it online, but nothing like having a person in the audience.

James F. Gennaro

Thank you for being here.

James F. Gennaro

Oh, so now I have to officially let you know to do whatever they have to do to start the hearing, right?
