Gennaro criticizes DEP, OATH, and DOF for declining testimony
Gennaro says DEP, OATH, and the Department of Finance were invited but declined to testify. He criticizes DEP's short written submission and says he will read it into the record, while expressing disappointment at the agencies' absence.
That leads us to today's hearing.
And although we invited DEP, OATH, the Office of Administrative Trials and
I guess, and the Department of Finance to provide testimony about the Citizen Enforcement Program and the proposed legislation being heard today.
And despite DEP's previous insistence that the Council make reforms to this program, as you can see, they have declined the invitation.
And then DEP has provided a page and a half of testimony without much substance.
I will be reading that into the record.
Feel free to giggle as I read it.
And no word from Oath or DOF.
The giggle part I just made up.
It's not written down, okay?
I hope that moving forward, the administration can show a bit more respect to this institution and the important role we play in oversight and lawmaking.
While I'm disappointed by their absence, I look forward from hearing from you all today about your experience.
With the Citizen Enforcement Program and your suggestions to make it better.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to make this a fruitful hearing with your good and thorough testimony.
Hopefully the agencies will be listening in.
Well, we got the person right there.
And I'm sure they're listening in.
I'm sure they're like, you were giggling when I said giggling.
They're not giggling.
They're grimacing.
So hopefully the agency will be listening in and taking notes.
We certainly will.
