Chair Riley asks about DCP Sprint team goals
He asks about the Sprint team; Garodnick says it will focus on SEQRA-exempt applications, work with borough offices, and has 13 exempt applications already, moving to six-month pre-certification in fall.
And a part of the fast-tracking work at DCP was the creation of the Sprint team.
Can you describe the planning goals of that team?
And, yeah, can you describe the goals of that team, please?
Sure.
So I'm excited about our sprint team.
We've been.
hiring for that team.
And I would just note that there's been a lot of internal and external interest in the roles that we've created for Sprint.
This is the team that will specifically focus on the pipeline of applications that are exempt from the two-year plus secret review process.
That team will work in close coordination with other areas of our agency, including with our borough office, so we make sure that they're tapping into that local knowledge and expertise.
We're pulling in folks who have planning experience, planning expertise.
Again, we want to make sure that we're proving process, but we're keeping sound planning judgment front and center in the work that we're doing.
And so that team is standing up.
We've already started to identify applications that are exempt in our pipeline today.
So we have about 13 applications that are already exempt.
And in the fall, with our sprint team fully staffed, we will start to move folks towards the six-month pre-certification process.
Okay.
