Chair Sherman responds on CB18 applications and methodology
He says he doesn't know the number of applications prior to his tenure, anticipates activity in fast-track districts, and says the list is based on charter methodology; Narcisse says it's one-size-fits-all.
Sure, I'll jump in.
So I don't know the number of applications prior to my tenure.
can follow up with you on that.
I anticipate that there will be activity in those districts.
We're confident that there will be affordable housing development in all the fast track districts.
And again, we want to be sensitive to the needs.
I will just note that we have developed the list based on exactly what the charter is calling for us to do, developing a rate affordable housing production, producing the list without exception.
And so that is the list as projects are pursued.
That's where there's an opportunity for us to really assess the environmental impact, assess the infrastructure need, figure out the right mix and tools for affordability within your district, and customize the implementation.
But the affordable fast track list is developed strictly from the methodology that is defined by the charter.
It is a list that accelerates the approval of affordable housing projects, the potential approval of affordable housing projects.
But it does not take away our responsibility to complete land use review.
So it's one size fits all, and it's not going to work, and it's not a blanket for all New York City.
Like I said, we build on marshland, and I love, appreciate you.
I'm looking forward to see what spot that we can build.
And if not, we have to be sensitive to folks because they cannot even pay to repair their basements.
So thank you, Chair.
Thank you, Councilmember.
