Council Member Brewer asks about NYCHA Harborview units
She says Harborview has been waiting since Hudson Yards decision for 124 units, asks for commitment; Sandler says they are focused on preserving existing NYCHA units, and Harborview has not moved forward; Brewer asks about Hudson Yards agreement.
Also, NYCHA.
I have lots of NYCHA.
We don't want to be building.
Harborview has been waiting since the Hudson Yards decision, 124 units.
Everybody at HPD knows about it.
Nobody's done a damn thing about it.
But at other locations, what's going on with HPD at...
NICHA, Harborview, since Hudson Yards when I signed off for that.
And I want a commitment that we're not going to tear down trees and get rid of all the open space that NICHA buildings have.
Those are my questions.
Yeah, well, certainly I can't speak for NICHA.
I will say that our collaborations with NICHA, and I think the city's focus on NICHA, has been protecting the existing units that exist.
And so we've been focused on our NICHA preservation projects, on infill that supports the preservation of existing NICHA.
And so Harborview has not moved forward as a result of that.
What about Harvey?
You just finished by saying what?
It has to move forward because we're focusing on these other initiatives that are preserving existing affordable housing units.
So you're not going to build the new units at night, even though it's mandated by Hudson Yards Agreement?
We'll have to speak with Nisha about that.
They blame it on HPD.
Thank you.
Thank you, Councilmember Brewer.
