Sanchez asks about worker roles and union status in fall fatalities
Sanchez asks about the titles, roles, and union status of workers who died in falls; Tigani explains that injuries are self-reported to the agency by owners or competent professionals, making exact roles difficult to determine, but that a variety of trades are affected and that hazards are common across roles.
And do you have any information, you know, regarding, again, focusing, and we will talk about this, I'm sure, in depth in the task force, or you will in the task force, if I'm invited, I will say this,
but anything about the titles of folks, the roles of the workers who have fallen to their deaths, any trends there, union, non-union, of the fatalities related to falls?
By local law, if there is an injury on a site, an owner or competent professional on that site must report to the agency.
So when that report is made by them,
through either calling the department or using, we have an online portal that they can use.
They can self-report that information to us.
And so we can give you the data of the self-reported style.
the difficulty would be getting to what exactly is the role.
But we'll say that it's a variety of different roles on a site that we're seeing different issues come up.
Because very often, whether you're an electrician, a carpenter, a laborer, you're often
interacting with any of the things I mentioned earlier that can create a trip hazard, can move you to an elevated position, can have you walking through a site where debris or material is not properly handled and put in the appropriate place.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
