Rudin details Borden services, placements, and employment outcomes
Rudin says Borden has 231 residents, 147 moved to permanent homes last year and 111 this year, 55% have gained or maintained employment since January 2026, overdoses are down 54%, and case managers and specialists are on staff.
These are the services.
We have 231 residents.
Last year, we helped move 147 into permanent homes.
This year, so far, 111 folks.
A permanent home is top priority, and we exceed the city's placement targets consistently.
Since January 2026, 55% of clients have gained or maintained employment.
and we're supporting others in finding and securing jobs.
Overdoses have declined by 54% compared to 2025.
We also help veterans improve their physical and mental health, access public benefits, and partner with the city, with the federal VA, and with external organizations to deliver a host of services and programs.
I want to say that when clients arrive, when veterans arrive at Borden, they're assigned a case manager, and we work with them on all of their goals, including to achieve permanent housing.
And the average length of stay at Borden is around eight months.
We have housing specialists who do this work.
We have employment specialists who support clients in getting employment.
We have case acts and substance use specialists who work with clients on their substance use disorders.
We also have OASIS, a state-licensed alcohol and substance use clinic
off-site, and we frequently bring those staff, including peers with lived experience, on-site to Borden to support people with their substance use disorders.
We organizationally abide by an ethos of walk alone, go faster, walk together, go farther.
I think Borden is a good example of different groups, both in and out of government, coming together to be additive.
We get tremendous support from the city's Department of Social Services, from the city's Department of Veteran Services, from other veteran services organizations throughout the city.
And our results are additive to one another.
