Council Member Sanchez details violations at 917 Eagle Avenue and Manny properties
Council Member Sanchez says the T2026-2688 tax exemption would fund repairs at 917 Eagle Avenue, a five-story walk-up with 123 recorded violations including 41 Class C violations. He describes additional serious violations across 14 Manny properties in his district, including rats, lead, roof issues, lack of heat or hot water, mold, and exposed electrical wires.
Thank you, Chair Lee.
So today's vote on T2026-2688 is providing a tax exemption specifically for repairs to 917
Eagle Avenue, a walk-up building that is only five stories tall but has 123 recorded violations, including 41 Class C violations.
According to across the 14 Manny properties in my district, Manny is responsible for fixing an additional 524 recorded housing violations.
Of those, 164 additional violations are Class C violations, the most serious classification of housing violations in New York City.
92 class C violations involving rats, rodents, and other vermin.
16 instances where lead was found.
15 roof-related issues.
17 units without heat or hot water.
5 with mold and 4 with exposed electrical wires.
And 17 self-closing door issues which put the safety of the entire building at risk if any of those wires created a fire.
