Ariola explains vote against, citing lack of plan for workers
Council Member Joann Ariola asks to explain her vote and says she advocates for animals but also for workers and small businesses. She votes nay because there is no real plan in place and the mayor is left to study the transition while workers need money to feed their families.
Thank you.
Ariella.
Permission to quickly explain my vote.
Permission granted.
I am well known for advocating for animals, and I proudly do so.
But I'm also well known for advocating for workers and their rights.
And I stand for small businesses, and each and every one of the medallion owners and their drivers and the people who work in the industry are small business owners.
For that, because there is no real plan in place and it is left in the hands of the mayor to find and do a study and research, you don't have time for that.
You need to have checks, money, so you can feed and keep your families.
For those reasons, I vote nay.
