Nurse thanks Community Land Initiative and colleagues, asks for vote
Nurse promises a longer list of thanks later but singles out the New York City Community Land Initiative for disciplined, collaborative work that persisted through roadblocks and a veto. She thanks Progressive Caucus allies and members who opposed the bill for hearing her out, then asks for an aye vote.
There are a ton of groups to name and thank.
I'll do all of that later to the annoyance of the majority leader.
But the New York City Community Land Initiative has really, really done so much work here.
And I'm just so impressed with how disciplined and unrelenting they have been, how collaborative they've been.
And they haven't let any roadblocks, vetoes, or setbacks to stop them.
And I just really want to thank my colleagues who championed this bill, the Progressive Caucus especially, but also those who have been against this bill.
I really appreciate you patiently hearing me out and letting me bug you.
Even if you vote no, I really, really value that you gave me some time to hear me out.
Because this bill has really been through the fire, it is why I believe it is the best version that we could be voting on.
It is a program that I believe this council is going to be able to stand behind in the coming years.
So I ask for your vote, and thank you so much.
