Chair asks factors for early termination; Eusebio and Goodwin list criteria
Brooks-Powers asks what factors determine whether DOP files for early termination. Eusebio and Goodwin cite public safety, mitigating factors, employment, stable housing, family stability, program completion, and no rearrest.
So obviously we're coming back to that practice.
Currently, I don't have the exact numbers, but we're encouraged by the fact that our philosophy is aligning with our value.
We are definitely going to be coming back to this body with numbers, concrete numbers, to inform that practice where we are.
Better yet, you can just send it to us in writing before the week is out.
That would be great.
What factors go into determining whether to file a motion for early termination?
So every case, we assess everyone who is on probation.
Part of that assessment is making sure that we have addressed any, you know, mitigating factors that any concerns for public safety.
Obviously, that's what we're looking for before we put someone through the, you know, submission of early discharges.
We're looking at the whole person, you know, are they employed?
Are they staying in a rest free?
Are they, you know, doing things positive, reengaging with the family?
We're also making sure that they know where to turn to if they ever need support.
NEON is one of the resources that we heavily rely on.
Make sure they know that if they ever find themselves in need of any support, they can still come back to probation regardless of whether they are on probation or not.
And I would add, in terms of what we look at for early discharges is making sure that the person hasn't been rearrested.
