Q&A

Chair asks how DOP measures changes; Goodwin cites CUNY ISLG framework

New York City Council · Oct 26, 2026 · starts 0:18:28 · 45 sec

Brooks-Powers asks how DOP measures whether changes are working and what metrics show. Goodwin says DOP is working with CUNY's Institute for State and Local Governance to build a framework and data points for evaluating community-based programs.

Selvena N. Brooks-Powers

Thank you for that.

Selvena N. Brooks-Powers

And that's a good segue into my next question, which was going to be how the department is measuring whether these changes are working and what do those metrics show so far?

Sharon Goodwin

One of the things I can say is that we are working with

Sharon Goodwin

CUNY's Institute for State and Local Governance on our framework to establish metrics and evaluate our community-based programs.

Sharon Goodwin

We also are focusing on building our own data points right now.

Sharon Goodwin

So we're in the middle of building this framework so we can really look at how we are governing ourselves at probation.
