Joanne Ojeda appears but yields, saying she is unprepared and from 1199
Joanne Ojeda is called as a virtual panelist but says she is unable to mute at first and did not prepare testimony. She says she is from 1199, the acting vice president of the area, and wants to listen and participate next time.
That's all they know.
So when a kid is out there on the block and somebody else is carrying a gun, he's going to carry a gun because that's all he knows.
And so our thing is like to change that whole culture.
And so that's kind of like what we do.
We give them a safe space.
We call it the well.
And then the well, everybody gets along.
We had a gun diversion program.
Now we are now 14th cohort.
We haven't had no incidences, no gang incidences, no...
Territorial incidences, once you provide that safe space, they're allowed to create their own idea about what's good and what's bad.
So that's one of the reasons why, like I said, I wanted to come here today and speak about what we're doing and what probation was doing.
As a matter of fact, Ms.
Goodwin, she took ABP.
I'm an AVP facilitator.
I just want to say this piece about AVP was created in 1975 in Greenhaven Prison, and it was created by the think tank, and I was part of the think tank.
So I've been doing AVP 50 years.
And so we do ABP and we do a basic, we do advanced.
And then we train them to be facilitators.
And we did that same process with probation offices.
