Narcisse and Powell discuss individualized needs and referrals
Narcisse says understanding each young person's needs can make a breakthrough. Powell says probation officers make their own assessments and refer clients to outside partners, balancing social work and law enforcement roles.
And so we'd really like to see programs coming back, more funding for the programs, so that we can have both the ATDs and the ATIs to reduce that significant detention population
for the juvenile cases.
That's what I'm asking about.
Thank you.
Do you know about our evening intake programs?
He works in the evening intake programs, and I hope that evening intake and weekend arraignment is to keep the kids out of the system and keep it flowing.
And he works there.
He does that on there.
So that's another way the department, that's something that we continue to have, to try not to keep them in a detention center.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Next, we'll have questions from Councilmember Narcisse.
Thank you, Chair.
I tried my best to be here, but I got here.
Thank God I got here safe.
My question, from your knowledge, do probation have
someone trained in the intake process to assess our kids'mental and trauma that they're going on in their lives when they come in.
