Council Member Salaam asks about the current vacancy count and hiring targets to close the probation officer gap. Goodwin says DOP has 171 vacancies overall, 134 in the probation officer series, and hopes to staff up within the next year with four classes of 50.

Just a few questions regarding DOP oversight and the staffing in the workforce.
I'm not sure if this was answered already because I kind of came in and they were talking about some of the staffing issues.
But as of March of 2026, DOP reported a 23% vacancy rate with
255 vacancies, including 210 probation officers since fiscal year 2023.
DOP lost 405.
officers and hired 235, a net loss of 170.
What is the vacancy count today and what is the hiring target and timelines to close the probation officer gap?
