Clark urges council to examine information sharing and results
Clark urges the council to examine whether agencies share timely information, whether safety incidents and misconduct are documented, whether detained youth access services, and whether investments produce results. She says accountability and safety are not mutually exclusive.
I urge the council to examine whether agencies share appropriate, timely information about Bronx youth in custody, whether significant safety incidents and alleged misconduct are documented and communicated effectively,
whether detained young people have access to appropriate services and intervention,
and whether public investments in youth justice are producing measurable results.
We must hold young people accountable for serious conduct while ensuring that they are safe within our care while reducing the likelihood of future harm.
These goals are not mutually exclusive.
They require reliable information, clear lines of responsibility, effective services, and measurable results.
I welcome continued collaboration with the City Council and other stakeholders to strengthen these events to promote safer outcomes for young people and communities throughout New York City, especially the Bronx.
Thank you very much for allowing me to present.
And I'll take any questions if you have any.
