Farías asks how youth are grouped at Horizon and Crossroads and whether there is a defined policy. Ginsberg describes an admissions interview, court collateral, conflict checks, discussions about where youth feel safe, and facility leadership assessment for safe housing.
Okay, thank you.
Groups within secure...
Detention.
How are young people being grouped at Horizons and Crossroads?
Is there a defined policy?
Are they divided by age, by charge, by their needs, based on disability or other considerations?
And just to get back to the overcrowding,
Just wanting to understand how you all make certain decisions on where certain people are placed and how they're placed and what their living conditions are.
So we have a multi-pronged admissions process.
We have an admissions team that does an interview with the young people and will look at the collateral information that comes from the courts.
And then our facility staff will meet with the young people to identify which neighborhood they come from.
If they have any known conflicts in either facility, what their history has been in maybe non-secure detention or in our facilities, and make those decisions.
They will have a conversation with the young person about where they feel safe, and then there is an assessment by the staff and facility leadership about where that young person can be housed safely.
