Q&A

Zhuang asks if NYCHA will inspect every OAC to prevent closures

New York City Council · Oct 27, 2026 · starts 2:03:08 · 33 sec

Zhuang asks if there is a plan to inspect every OAC on NYCHA campuses to prevent similar situations. Trimble says there is no plan to inspect each site, but NYCHA's physical needs assessment estimates OAC capital improvement costs at approximately $900 million. Zhuang then asks for borough breakdown of the 105 OACs.

Susan Zhuang

Is there any plan to inspect every single OACs located in NITRA campus to prevent this type of situation happening?

Eva Trimble

We don't have a plan to do an inspection of each of our sites, but as I mentioned before, right now as part of our physical needs assessment, which is our overall capital assessment for all of NYCHA,

Eva Trimble

we estimate the capital improvement costs for our older adult centers to be approximately $900 million.
